here is a little picture montage of what has been going on these past few days..

1 something that brings me pure joy is anything pumpkin and I'm so thankful for jordan showing me the new pumpkin frap at starbucks. fall is coming!

2 back with pearl {my sewing machine} and as I sew in my room I can't help but feel like jenny humphrey.

3 afternoon naps with my sweet nephew are so perfect. especially in my sisters cozy bed.

4 dinner dates with this hunk are my favorite. actually, anything with this hunk is my favorite. 

5 i had a lunch date with mindy kaling on saturday {and by that I mean I had a date with her book "is everyone hanging out without me? and other concerns"} the awkward part is I was reading this book in public. alone. but it was raining and I was craving my favorite soup from cottonwood so I just ignored the stares.

The Holy Ghost is a beautiful and wonderful gift which I am so grateful for. I stumbled upon this scripture yesterday and I am so glad I did. The spirit gives us promptings for a reason and it is up to us to have faith and follow them, even if it scares us. When entering college about two years ago I had a huge dream, one that deemed me courageous, one that would make people proud. I had made this decision to become this great and talented fashion journalist. I was going to boost the confidence of women with the written word. I was excited and dove head first into lifes possibilities. However, this dream took a turn. I set high goals for myself without consulting with the Lord and seeing if this was the path I was to take. It took two years to realize, but this "dream" wasn't meant to be. And you know what? That's okay. In the process I made new dreams, some that are in fact coming true and I could not be happier. The Holy Ghost will never lead us astray. Listen to the spirit and cling to the love of our Savior with all your might. He loves us and has a set plan for each of us. It just take a little leap of faith but I know we will be blessed.

thoughts and such//

-i got a job!! {insert "woo hoo" here} i start in about two weeks and i am so excited! bring on the pencil skirts and heels because that will be my uniform for the next year and i couldn't be more thrilled.
-i'm almost positive blankets were made to lay out on the grass at night to snuggle on..just saying
-is it stupid that i get super excited when a new JCrew catalog comes in the mail? i don't think so.
-my roommates are all in school. wishing them all a successful semester, i sure will miss them.
-sometimes jordan and i have full on conversations while brushing our teeth. {all it is is a bunch of mumbles and groans, how we do it? i have no clue}
-can we all just take a moment and look at how long my hair is getting!
-2 more days and my favorite show will be starting up, i could not be more excited. {note to elsa, don't forget to get a slurpie while you watch it and then call me after}

i promise i will have more interesting blog post rather than just random updates on my life.. stay tuned.

since I've had some "down time" there are things that I've started to notice about myself. i'm getting older and it's weird but you know what, it's slightly fun. there are times when i'll be somewhere and think"wow i'm such a mom" not that it is a bad thing or anything but merely because it's hilarious. here is a list of prime examples.

-my best friend jordan and i were at target looking at wedding/home decor magazines when an older lady came and joined us. we chatted about her daughter who is an event planner and her son that she wanted to set jordan up with. it was hilarious but also really awkward. we ended up leaving target with pajama pants and matching planners. who are we?

-i drive a pt cruiser. nuff said.

-i find myself overjoyed when i see my body wash is buy one get one free.

-i take an extra long time at a stop sign that's on the way to my boyfriends house due to the fact that the house that sits on the left of the street is my ideal home. i like to think one day i'll live my simple and beautiful life there.

-i meet with the CEO tomorrow of what could possibly be my new job. i might throw up.

this post is for those who want an update on my life (aka my sisters)

-still waiting to hear back from multiple job interviews i had and it's killing me. looks like i'll be a nanny for the rest of my life.

-my favorite cafe in town knows that it's me just from hearing my voice over the phone. seems as though i go in there a bit too much. bad thing?  i can't decide.

-trying to convince my boyfriend that the great gatsby is the best movie this summer is harder than i thought.

-i'm in love with my room and have a hard time leaving the house because of it, but when i finally do i'm grateful for those sunset walks with bella.

-my friends are all starting school and i'm thinking of sketching again and keeping up with my french so i can keep my brain cells aflowin.

-the doctrine and covenants is very powerful and i'm loving rereading it.

-also i love this song, take a listen.

Yup I'm back.
There has been some great big changes in my life and I'm excited to share them all with you.
For starters I have taken a slight step back and I'm now reevaluating my life and it's "professional" purpose.
Through that process I met a handsome man who I'm happy to call mine.
{more on him and our story later}
But if you don't already know I have a lovely friend who takes fantastic photos..mine included..that being said, she is going back to school and I however am not.
SO.. therefore it might be a little difficult to be constantly posting "outfit" posts but the good news IS I will in fact continue to post.
This summer has been such an adventure and I want to share and post all about it.
So here is a heads up to all who read my blog
I'm back, in a little bit of a different light
but you know sometimes life throws us curve balls and I think it's up to us to either catch them and go with it or let them hit us and decide not to get up.

The Great Gatsby, if you haven't read it, I highly recommend you do. The movie was recently released and let me just tell you I was jazzed (well it is the "Jazz Age" right? right??) So in honor of Fitzgerald and Gatsby I thought to put together some pieces inspired by the lovely novel/film. 20's fashion is all about long legs and short hair which means low-waist dresses and cloche hats. What is the key to this look, you might ask? Accessorize Accessorize Accessorize! Feathers, hats, and jewels! The beautiful and daring woman of this era have become iconic in our generation. So let's raise our glass and join the party! Put on you're best flapper dress, paint your lips red and hang those long pearls around your neck, because there's a party at Gatsbys.
